Local by default
Preferences, timers, music control, calendar presentation and AI document summaries are processed on your Mac. Overnotch does not include third-party analytics, sell activity data or upload documents for summarization. Live sports, license validation and some remote artwork require network requests.
What we collect
If you buy Overnotch, the only data we process is what's strictly necessary to fulfill your purchase and activate your license. If you only join the waitlist, see Waitlist below — that is separate and you can leave it at any time.
- Your email address (via Stripe at checkout)
- An HMAC hash of your license key stored by our server
- A hash of a random installation identifier stored in your Keychain, not your Mac serial number
- App version and platform (macOS)
License activation
When you activate Overnotch, the app sends these values to our server:
- Your activation code over an encrypted HTTPS connection; only its HMAC hash is stored
- Device hash derived from a random local identifier, never your serial number
- App version
- Timestamp
External feature providers
To show live matches, the app sends the selected competitions or teams to the configured sports provider. Album artwork may be loaded from the active music service when it is not available locally. Provider requests also include ordinary network information such as your IP address. Production builds use provider endpoints configured by Overnotch; local development builds may contact ESPN test endpoints directly.
Payments
Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card details. Stripe's privacy policy applies to the checkout process.
Waitlist
If you enter your email on the home page, we store that address so we can tell you once when Overnotch is ready. Nothing is stored under your name until you click the confirmation link we send you — that is what stops anyone from signing up an address that is not theirs.
- Your email address, and the date you confirmed it
- Where you came from (campaign tags in the link you clicked, referring site, browser language)
- Optionally, the price range you pick after confirming — stored as a range, never a free-text answer
The legal basis is your consent, and you can withdraw it at any time from the link at the bottom of any email or from your mail app's own unsubscribe button. When you do, we delete where you came from and keep only a record that this address opted out — that record is what stops a form from putting you back on by accident.
Emails
Transactional emails (your activation code, license recovery) are sent via Resend, and so is the waitlist confirmation. We do not run a newsletter: if you join the waitlist you get one confirmation email and one launch email, and that is all.
Data retention
We retain purchase records and license data to provide support and allow license recovery. Waitlist entries are deleted once the launch email has been sent, or as soon as you unsubscribe. You can request deletion of your data by emailing us.
Local histories
Clipboard history, file shelf references, lyrics cache, timers and preferences stay on your Mac. Clipboard history is disabled by default and can be cleared from the app.
