Overnotch · AirDrop
What just arrived, ready to open.
Send something from your iPhone and the notch shows it arriving, then tells you it's here — with one click to open it or find it in Finder.
Try it — send something to the Mac, then open it or find it.
Received
It landed. Here it is.
While it arrives, the notch shows the AirDrop icon and a ring that fills up. When it's done, a card takes over: the file's picture, what arrived, and Show in Finder and Open. No wondering whether it went through, no digging through Downloads to find it.
Open or find
One click to open it.
Open puts it straight into its usual app — the photo in Preview, the spreadsheet in Numbers. Finder shows it where it was saved, selected and ready to move.
Sending
Going the other way? Use the shelf.
Drop a file on the notch and the shelf's AirDrop button sends it to a nearby iPhone, iPad or Mac. When it's gone, the notch tells you.
Good to know
- On from the start
- Settings → AirDrop, if you ever want it off.
- Permission
- Access to your Downloads folder, which is where AirDrop saves things. macOS asks once.
- Private
- It only checks which files AirDrop just saved — it never opens them or sends anything anywhere.
