Incoming call

Answer from the notch.

When a call comes in — FaceTime, or your iPhone ringing through the Mac — the notch drops down with the caller's face, where it's coming from and their name, and two round buttons, red and green. Pick up or turn it down without hunting for the banner in the corner of the screen.

On a call

It tucks away while you talk.

Once you answer, the call stays open for a few seconds with the time running and a red button to hang up. Then it tucks into the notch — a green phone on one side of the camera, the time on the other — and gets out of your way. Click it and the button to hang up is back, however many windows are sitting on top of FaceTime.

Always gets through

A call is never held back.

Profiles decide how much the notch is allowed to interrupt you — but calls and timers always get through. In Work, in Presenting, even in Minimal, a ringing call still shows up.

Permission
Accessibility, so the notch can press answer and decline for you, and Contacts for the caller's photo — without it, their initials. macOS asks the first time.
Which calls
Whatever rings on your Mac: FaceTime, and your iPhone's calls when they ring on the Mac too.
Privacy
It reads the caller's name, their photo from Contacts and the two buttons. Nothing is recorded, and nothing leaves your Mac.
